Cheapside Cafe

featured local stories, Personal

I realized that I don’t often post about my personal life. Having our daughter recently changed my views on so much. Its important for me to let you see behind the scenes, so to speak. To better understand me, my life, what I like, and why. So much of life inspires, and most of what inspires me comes from the everyday. I love to watch the way light washes over a room, or the small details of an object overlooked.

I went to work with my hubby at Cheapside, his cafe downtown that he owns and designed and snapped a few shots. We talk about Cheapside a lot at home and I love to listen to his ideas about how people enjoy a space, and what excites him about creating a place for people to come and hang out-to get inspired. We were actually just friends when he started Cheapside and it was so fun for me to watch the process from start to finish. There were so many inspirations for the space that came from the most unexpected places like Mario Andretti’s race shop, cool west coast style, light, and lots of minimalist touches. Over the years we’ve been lucky enough to host some amazing events at Cheapside like our engagement party and a party of note with the CSO.

When Joe originally got in the restaurant scene there weren’t many other places in Cincinnati. Now in 2019, the scene is booming and the city has grown so much! It’s exciting to see where things will go and we are happy to flow and change as the seasons pass. If you have the chance to travel to Cheapside make sure to snag a seat in the Teepee and try the famous breakfast sandwich (we’ve sold over 60,000 – pretty crazy for a sandwich). As always, I hope you enjoyed this little story and found out a bit more about me. For more behind the scenes of my everyday check out my insta stories @robinmckerrellphoto. You’ll find lots of videos of our babe and huge American bulldog Boss, me trying to ballroom dance, and other random mom outings.

New Studio – my creative collective in OTR : Robin McKerrell Photography

Behind the scenes, Local Stories

I’m excited to announce that construction will begin soon on my new photography studio in OTR! I’ve had a great studio in East Walnut Hills for the past 3 years but its time to open my doors and share more of what I do in the neighborhood where I live.
The space can be found right near the new 3CDC building and Nick Lachey’s new bar. There will be an open store front and everyone will be welcome to come and share in the space-it has great light and will be a quiet studyworkcreative collective. Be prepared to see lots of images that I have been stockpiling for years – unveiled. I also have some great shoots planned with my lovely neighbors – check back soon for sneak peeks of my shoot with Sloane this week!

It’s cold in the city – Robin McKerrell Photography

Local Stories

I couldn’t pass up this beautiful snowy day in OTR + our surrounding city! I’ve always loved nature, being outside, and exploring. It’s nice as an adult to still have the opportunity to take a few moments and enjoy nature-especially when its your job 🙂 I know you don’t typically see me posting these kind of photos but now that we are approaching a bit of the slower season (AKA not shooting weddings every weekend) I will have some time to show a softer side.

CINCINNATI FOTOFOCUS 2014 : ROBIN MCKERRELL PHOTOGRAPHY

Events, Local Stories

I was asked to participate in a new exhibition Fotofocus is putting on this year called fotogramming. Basically a group of artists, curators, and other photo fanatics were asked to instargam the happenings of this years Fotofocus and post about it-then the images will be curated and displayed. Here’s a little sneak of a few images I snapped at the opening of Taiyo Onorato & Nico Krebs exhibition that is currently displayed at the CAC:
